Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a discounted version of the CityTourCard?
There is no discounted version of the CityTourCard.
Do children each need their own CityTourCard?
Any number of children aged under 6 years can use public transport for free if they are under custody of a holder of any CityTourCard version.
For children aged from 6 to 14 years there is a seperate day ticket for € 2.40. It is valid for the entire MVV public transportation network, until 6 am the following day. A version only for the inner area does not exist. Since many partners don't offer discounts on prices for children, we recommend to take NO CityTourCard for children at all, but to buy a children's day ticket.
Minors aged above 15 years can benefit from the CityTourCard, since they would have to buy a regular day ticket instead, and since they would have to pay the full price for the offers of many CityTourCard partners.
Does station XY lie in the inner tariff zone of Munich public transport?
The inner tariff zone, München Innenraum, includes the entire municiple area of Munich. The total tariff zone, München Gesamtnetz, includes the entire municiple area of Munich, as well as the surroundings of Munich. Here, you find a complete overview of the Munich municipal railway network with the appropriate tariff zones. This way, you can find out easily whether the station that is relevant for you lies in the tariff zone München Innenraum or Gesamtnetz.
Where can I buy the CityTourCard in Munich?
You can buy the CityTourCard at the designated MVG selling points, ticket vending machines and customer centres. Furthermore, the CityTourCard is available at DB selling points selling MVV products, DB ticket vending machines (button "Kombitickets") and at the tourist information offices Main Station and Marienplatz. Likewise, there are possibilies to purchase the CityTourCard in selected hotels in Munich.
Where do I get the information leaflet for the CityTourCard?
You get the leaflet for free from all CityTourCard distributors. Also, if you buy the CityTourCard at an MVG ticket vending machine, a DB ticket machine, or a Munich suburban railway (S-Bahn) ticket machine you can collect the leaflet for free at all selling points mentioned above and from all distributors.
When starts the validity of the CityTourCard?
The moment of validation is cruicial for the period of validity of the CityTourCard. The moment will be stamped on the CityTourCard, once you put it in a ticket validator. After price changes, a CityTourCard which is not yet validated can still be used as a public transport ticket within three months. If your purchase of the CityTourCard dates back longer, please make enquiries whether it can still be used.
I have further questions, who can I address?
Questions about other tariffs, stations and timetables will be answered by helpful employees with the MVG, for questions concerning the CityTourCard itself you can contact the CTC Verlag.
