The main entrance of the Berlin Cathedral
With its striking figure the Berliner Dom (Berlin Cathedral) is one of the city’s tourist’s magnets. The neobaroque building was initiated in 1905. It is located close to the so called Museumsinsel (Museum island).
During World War II, the dome was bombed and severely damaged. Since the rededication in 1993 the Berlin Cathedral gives a warmly welcome to all visitors. One can visit the ministry church with the amazing cupola, the baptismal and wedding chapel, the magnificent imperial stairwell, the Hohenzollern crypt with more than 100 coffins over the past four centuries and a museum. From the cupola one can enjoy an impressive panorama across the historical city centre of Berlin.
All over the year several concerts are taking place beside the worships and other church events. Due to the cupola and its spectacular architecture every concert turns out into a remarkable experience. The dome comes with the famous Sauer organ which is known as a worth hearing and worth seeing instrument. During numerous organ recitals the organ already proved its excellent romantic sound.
Visitors may not visit the cathedral during services or other events.
