The Story of Berlin - an exciting journey through 800 years of Berlin history

An exciting journey through 800 years of Berlin history - that's definitely more than just an exhibition: that's The Story of Berlin. Instead of the mere display of dates and facts about historical personalities, the priority is given to the Berliners and their lifestyle at a certain time in history. Part of the visit to the exhibition is a guided tour through an original nuclear shelter underneath the Kurfürstendamm.

From the very beginning until the fall of the Berlin wall Berlin's complete history is presented in 23 theme rooms. At the same time the exhibition sets value on a great present-day relevance. All rooms are equipped with up to date technology as well as original exhibits like the last state carriage of Erich Honecker. In that way you can experience the authentic life of the past. Explore the exhibition with all your senses: listen to audio recordings, smell significant aroma or experience sensible impulses.

The highlight of your stay in the exhibition is a visit to an original nuclear shelter. A guided tour, also in English, is included in the admission price. Although it is located in the centre of Berlin it is almost unknown to the majority of Berlin's population. Even today it remains able to function and gives room to 3600 civilians in the case of an emergency.
