The Old National Gallery
Sculptures and paintings from the 19th century
(Johann Gottfried Schadow, Caspar David Friedrich, Adolph Menzel, among others)
The architecture of the Old National Gallery, as well as its collection of paintings and sculptures from the 19th century, are regarded as the most important of their time. In 2001, the house was reopened. Among the highlights are "Der Mönch am Meer" (1883) by Caspar David Friedrich, "Doppelstandbild der Prinzessinnen Luise und Friederike von Preußen" by Johann Gottfried Schadow, and works by Auguste Rodin.
